Voice Workshop with Juliet Merchant
Presence and Vocality: A Practice of Being
Cave Textiles is thrilled to invite the amazing musician Juliet Merchant to host this special workshop — the very first to be held in our studio. We can't wait to share the space, some delicious tea, and a practice of listening together.
Open to everyone, with no prior experience required. This workshop offers an introduction to Pauline Oliveros' text scores and the practice of Deep Listening. Together, we will explore and perform a selection of scores before reflecting on our experiences through an open group discussion. Whether you are a musician, artist, or simply curious, all are welcome.
About Juliet
Juliet Merchant is an award-winning composer and pianist whose scores for Soviet silent films have premiered at MoMA, La Cinémathèque Française, and Institut Français, with her work on The House on the Volcano earning an "outstanding" review from The Guardian. She holds a Master's from Oxford and is completing a PhD in Composition at King's College London.
